For series reactors

TV show reaction video editor

Episode reactions, season finales and binge-watch series, with the same project settings every time, so episode twelve is as quick to edit as episode one.

What people make with it

  • Weekly episode reactions
  • Season finale watch-alongs
  • Re-watch commentary series
  • Reality TV commentary

Why it fits this kind of reaction

Reuse the same layout

Your layout settings are remembered between projects, so a whole season keeps one consistent look with no extra work.

Talk-heavy edits stay tight

Speech detection finds the moments you actually talk and cuts to your camera there, which is most of the work in a commentary-heavy edit.

While you watch: the video leads
While you talk: you lead
The layout step, inside the editor

And then you are on a timeline

Episode reactions are a series, and a series wins on looking the same every week. The timeline is where that consistency lives.

  • The same title card every episode: build it once, and the layout is remembered for the next project
  • An intro and an outro that stay put, so only the middle changes
  • Transitions on the cuts between scenes, at whatever length you settle on
  • Colour per clip, so one badly lit episode does not force you to grade the whole reaction
Everything the editor can doNone of it costs another credit.

The other setups you can use for series reactions

Video-first above is just where we'd start, not a rule. Every mode and every control works on any project, and most creators mix them. Here is the main alternative, spelled out the same way, plus the levers you have, so you can pick what fits the video in front of you.

You-first: you lead, the video sits in a window
The other main setup

You-first

Worried a particular series will get claimed? You-first puts you full-screen with the original in a small window you can shrink, dim toward barely-visible, and cover with an overlay. That is the most control over how much of it ever shows, with the fewest cuts.

Try You-first instead

…and three levers you can mix into either setup

One look, or two

Keep a single look the whole way, or switch to a second one the moment you talk. That highlight look is optional on every project.

Overlay only to the subtitle

Drop your own image over the video at about half opacity and stretch it down just to the subtitle line. Less original shows, and the dialogue stays readable.

Cut as much or as little

Two sliders set how eagerly it cuts to your camera, from heavy to none, and you can change or delete any single cut by hand.

  • Your own image, at about 50% opacity
  • Stretched down only to the subtitle band
  • Works in either mode: over the full frame or the small window
  • Less of the original on screen, dialogue still readable

The workflow

Identical for every kind of video: two recordings in, one finished reaction out.

  1. 1FilesYour camera and the video, each with its sound.
  2. 2SyncDrag until the two sounds line up.
  3. 3LookPick Video-first or You-first and place your camera.
  4. 4GenerateOne generation, one finished video, at your source resolution.
  5. 5Cuts & saveAutomatic talking cuts, joined without re-encoding.

Finish here, or take it into another editor

Generating gives you the finished final.mp4, and, if you want to keep going, the three full-length files it was built from (the whole series in each look) plus a timeline (EDL, FCPXML, OTIO or CSV) for DaVinci Resolve, Premiere or Final Cut. Cut it your own way, or import the timeline to rebuild this exact edit. Nothing to re-render.

1 credit = 1 finished video. You spend it by pressing Generate in the editor, and only if that generation actually finishes. A cancelled or failed one costs nothing, and re-cutting or saving that same video again is free. Everything else (editing, syncing, previewing, and exporting with a watermark) never costs a credit. No subscription.
