ReactionCut vs CapCut, DaVinci Resolve and VEED

All four can edit a reaction video. The difference is who does the cutting: in CapCut, DaVinci Resolve and VEED you place the talking cuts and the picture-in-picture layout yourself, while ReactionCut places them from your microphone before you open the timeline, and never uploads your footage. For professional colour work or short social edits, the general editors do more.

Honestly

Which one fits which job

ReactionCut

You make reaction videos regularly, you want the talking cuts and the layout switch done for you, and you would rather not upload unreleased footage.

DaVinci Resolve

You want a professional desktop editor with deep colour and audio tools, and you are happy to build the reaction layout by hand, or to finish a ReactionCut cut in it.

CapCut

You edit short social videos on your phone and desktop and want a large library of effects, templates and music.

VEED

You work in the browser on shorter videos, want subtitles and AI tools in one place, and uploading your footage is fine.

Not either-or

Using them together

Every generation in ReactionCut gives you the finished final.mp4, a full-length MP4 for each look, and a timeline as EDL, FCPXML, OTIO or CSV. So a common split is: let ReactionCut do the reaction-specific part (sync, the three looks, the talking cuts), then import the timeline into DaVinci Resolve or another editor and finish there. The cuts land on the track frame-accurate, and nothing is rendered twice.

Questions about the comparison

Is ReactionCut a replacement for DaVinci Resolve or CapCut?

Not for everything. It does one job end to end: turning a camera recording and the video you reacted to into a cut reaction video, with a timeline to finish it. For colour grading at a professional level, multi-camera shoots or short social edits with thousands of effects, the general editors do more. You can also do both: export the ReactionCut cut as EDL or FCPXML and finish it in Resolve.

Can a general editor do the automatic reaction cut?

Partly. Silence removal in CapCut, DaVinci Resolve and VEED deletes pauses from a clip, which on a reaction also deletes the video you are watching. DaVinci Resolve 20’s Multicam SmartSwitch cuts between camera angles by speaker, which is closer, but you still set the two recordings up as multicam and build the picture-in-picture layouts yourself.

Why is there “Not checked” in the table?

Because we could not confirm it from the tool’s own pages on the day we checked. We would rather leave a cell open than guess about someone else’s product.

This table is out of date. How do I tell you?

Write to [email protected] with the page that shows the change. We re-check the sources and update the date at the top.
